Artificial intelligence has quickly become a part of the design industry, but at our studio, we believe it should never replace creativity. At Amy Horany Interiors, we believe that design will always start and end with people — our clients, their stories, and the designers’ unlimited imagination. AI isn’t replacing any part of our creative foundation, however it is a useful tool we use to make our process more efficient. This allows us to spend more time focusing on the craft of design itself.
Here’s how we’re utilizing AI at Amy Horany Interiors:
1. Enhancing Presentations and Drawings
We often use AI to alter product perspectives to enhance and refine visual presentations. You can even watch this Instagram Reel we posted on how we utilized ChatGPT in preparing for a recent client presentation. These tedious (but important) tasks can be time-consuming, but with AI assistance, we can produce cleaner, more accurate visuals much quicker — helping clients better visualize the concepts we’re presenting.
2. Streamlined Project Management
Design is creative, but it’s also highly logistical. From note-taking during client meetings to organizing back-end project details, AI helps us stay on top of information and deadlines. This keeps our projects running smoothly and ensures nothing gets overlooked.
3. Rendering Our Original Designs into 3D Models
At Amy Horany Interiors, we develop all concepts from our own thoughts, ideas and professional design background. From there, we sometimes use AI to bring those ideas to life through 3D renderings. These renderings are never generated from stock designs or copied work. Instead, they’re based entirely on our own sketches, layouts, and original concepts, which we feed to our AI systems. This way, clients get to see their future spaces with greater clarity and confidence.
Many design firms outsource this rendering task to a 3rd party, but with AI, we’re able to provide these services for a fraction of the cost. We’re all about saving our client’s money whenever possible, and utilizing AI for our 3D renderings is a great way to do so.
What We DON’T Use AI For:
Although AI is wonderful for many things, it can also be deceptive, confusing and unreliable; especially in interior design. As important as it is for us to outline the ways we DO use AI, it’s also important for us to list the ways we DON’T use AI.
Here’s how we DON’T use AI:
- We do not use AI to come up with design ideas. EVER.
- We do not use AI to design rooms in place of our designers. EVER.
- We do not use AI to reproduce or mimic another designer’s work. EVER.
In this industry, our job is to listen, interpret, and design spaces that feel personal and authentic. AI doesn’t replace that — it simply supports it. If you can’t tell, we have a passion for interior design, and at its core, interior design is an art, and art is human.
Saving Time and Adding Value
By using AI thoughtfully, we free ourselves from repetitive tasks, providing more room to focus on the creative process. This efficiency translates into real value for our clients — projects are delivered faster and more cost-effectively, without compromising on originality or design integrity.
At the end of the day, AI is just another tool in our studio’s toolbox. The artistry, imagination, and vision behind our designs remain completely human.
